Dear Minister Graham,
Re: Reverse the $7.5 million budget cut and save 51 jobs at the Art Gallery of NSW
I’m writing to urge you to reverse the $7.5 million funding cut to the Art Gallery of New South Wales and stop the loss of 51 essential jobs.

In 2024, the Gallery was the 26th most visited art museum in the world, welcoming 2.37 million visitors that year. This was an 84 per cent increase since 2019. In the 2023–24 financial year alone, the Art Gallery of New South Wales hosted 29 exhibitions, toured shows to 14 regional venues, and drew 385,000 paying visitors to four major exhibitions. This is success by every measure.

The response? Deep, damaging cuts to the workforce that made this possible.

These are not surplus roles, they include:
•	Curators, Conservators, and Registrars who protect and present the collection.
•	The Public Programs and Digital Content teams who connect art with the public.
•	The Touring team, vital for regional engagement.
•	And key support roles in diversity, safety, and training; all earmarked to go.

Meanwhile, the Gallery is expected to deliver more with fewer staff, following its physical expansion. This is not sustainable; it’s setting the Gallery up to fail and is punishing staff for management decisions beyond their control.

This is not just a funding cut. It is an Art Attack. An attack on culture, access, education, and the future of the arts in NSW.

I urge you to:
•	Reinstate the $7.5 million in operational funding.
•	Protect all 51 threatened jobs.
•	Ensure the Gallery remains a thriving, publicly accessible institution.
