The NSW Government must increase wages by a minimum of 5.2 per cent for all Public Sector workers, with any increase to superannuation paid on top of that, and pay superannuation on the unpaid portion of the first 12 months of parental leave for our members.

The NSW Government has the power to change Section 146C of the NSW Industrial Relations Act and end forever the wages policy that restricts your pay and superannuation increases to 2.5 per cent. This is a policy that condemns you and your fellow Public Sector workers to falling wages as the cost of living goes up. It is a policy that needs to go.

As a local constituent I am concerned that the NSW Government will not commit to allowing NSW Public Sector workers a pay rise that will keep up with the rising cost of living.

Public Sector workers have kept this state open during bushfires, the COVID 19 pandemic and most recently floods. They have adjusted to a new work environment, essential services remained open and the citizens of NSW had the support they needed.

Public Sector workers were dealt a pay cut, enforced by unfair workplace laws, in 2020, yet still worked above and beyond to keep NSW working.

During the past two years, food, petrol, clothing and housing costs have increased at an alarming rate. It is time the salary cap, that will see real wages go backwards, was scrapped and the Government acknowledges the hard work of the Public Sector.

However, the Premier, Mr Perrottet, has not even responded to the General Secretary of the Public Service Association of NSW letter, seeking to commence a dialogue around a decent and respectful pay rise.

I am asking that you, as my local member, support a fair wage rise for NSW Public Sector workers. I urge you to advocate this issue either directly with the Premier or in Parliament and with local media on behalf of all decent, hard-working Public Sector employees.
